August ’22 – Style Notes

what to buy august

Even though the shopping scene in Paris is pretty magical, I was still rather unimpressed with some of the assortments.  Don’t get me wrong there were some beautiful pieces that I gladly would have brought home, but I found myself finding better deals and better pieces online while we were traveling.  Now that I’m back in the US it’s time to take advantage of some of those summer sales and snag some timeless classics for fall!

I’m somewhere stuck between vacation wear, summer in the city and cozy fall favorites, but naturally find myself gravitating towards pieces that I can layer or style for various temperatures.  These are some of favorites!

Jenni Kayne Knits

I’ve been eyeing a lot their lighter weight summer knits for a few months now, but had no reason to order them while traveling.  The Cruise Cocoon Crewneck and Chloe Crewneck are at the top of my list.  You can’t go wrong with a stripe or an oversized knit.  I’ve also been looking for a more silky trouser like and a very easy white summer dress and this the Relaxed Trousers and Drift Dress could be the perfect fit.

P.S. If you order this weekend and it’s over $400+ you’ll get a free candle.  Simply add the candle you want to your bag and use the code SCENTOBSESSION at checkout.  I got the Santa Ynez!

Vince Bias Pants

These have been on my wishlist for months and sadly the white ones that I was originally eyeing are sold out in my size so I’m going to give the terracotta a shot.  I love these for a more elevated casual look, paired with flats and an oversized button down or even a light knit. Very easy to dress up or down.

St. Agni Everything

I love love love St Agni’s current Blue collection and all of the pleated looks!  I would love to have more St. Agni in my life.  All of their pieces are so chic and au curant, yet timeless – classic with a twist. I could easily see myself pairing one of their more dainty dresses with my Jenni Kayne cashmere cocoon sweater for fall.

Sezane Merino Jacket

This jacket is a winner!  I tried it on in store when I was picking up a beach bag and found it to be the perfect boxy knit jacket.  It can be worn open thrown over a tank or closed as a top itself.  I also love that it’s 100% merino wool making it super breathable and thermoregulating.

Chunky Sandals

Ok, so I’ve finally come around to the chunky sandals situation and now I’m on a mission to find a pair that suits me and my style.  I like the thinner strapped Birkenstocks and oddly enough these ones are very flattering and super lightweight (the closest I will ever get to crocs). These Jenni Kayne ones caught my eye a few months ago so I’m going to give them a try in the brown and see if I like them.  Dear Frances also has these which also look promising, but I’m also on the fence on color.  I’m only looking for one or two pairs so we will have to see which (if any) I like best.  To be continued…

Anine Bing Thea Top

Tried this top on in the Paris store and loved it.  I’m always looking for tops that I can wear when it’s super hot and/or wear with jeans for drinks or dinner and this one is perfect.  Super versatile and a great fit even for large busts.

Longer Denim Shorts

I don’t know if I’m buying shorts to small or if it just comes with the territory, but I feel like every pair of high-waisted denim rides up and look shorter than I would like.  Thinking I might give some longer denim shorts like these a shot.

SIR The Label Clemence Vest and Shorts

If you follow me on Instagram then you are well aware of my obsession with this vest.  So much so I want to try it in black with the matching shorts (I’m always reaching for a pair of longer black shorts to dress up or down).  I’m going to try it a size smaller than what I have in the white to see if it fits better in the arm pints.

Loafers

I’m loving loafers for fall (and spring) and have always had my eye on a pair of suede loafers like these Khaite ones which are on sale!  I also love these white loafers from Sezane, I tried them on in store and they are shockingly comfortable.

Faithful the Brand Sets

I’m still on the hunt for a good summer set or two.  I was shooting for shorts and a short sleeve button down, but it seems that shorts and long sleeve button downs are dominating the market.  I feel like Faithful The Brand is nailing the set game for summer (I also saw a short and shirt set from Djerf Avenue that looks promising!) and a few caught my eye.

Brown Handbags

I have a think for brown and tan handbags, especially when fall hits.  I go hard into earth tones and love a brown or tan handbag to pull my look together together. Linked a few favorites below!

Cream Handbag

Also on my list – a good off-white leather handbag.  Nothing too flashy and ideally not super expensive unless I’m obsessed with it.  A few favorites below, but I’m still undecided on what exactly I want i.e. shoulder bag, crossbody etc.

What’s currently caught your eye or on your list?

xx
