June Mood ’21

I am honestly shocked that it’s already June.  This year is flying by!  I spent the majority of the first half of the year surviving winter in the PNW and anticipating our road trip to LA only for it to come and go in the blink of an eye.  Funny how travel works that way, it always goes by so fast!

We’re finally settled back in after our California trip and despite me already daydreaming of sunny beach trips, I’m doing my best to focus on moving into the condo {date still TBD}.  We have the built-ins that we designed getting installed, which is more or less the last thing {outside of furniture} that we wanted to have finished before moving in.  Now it’s on to operation pack, store, and move.  Wish me luck!

In other news the weather is finally turning and it’s starting to feel like Summer.  There’s this sweet spot right before and right after the somewhat oppressive heat that Portland can get in the Summer that I love.  The sun is warm, the air is crisp, the city starts to come back to life and life just feels zesty!  It’s my favorite time for strolling the farmers market first thing in the morning, wine dates outback and afternoon coffee breaks in the sun.

Hope your summer gets off to a wonderful start!

On The Calendar

I wish I had more exciting updates in this department this month, but a lot of it is packing, sorting, cleaning, and more packing!  Now that we’ve finally settled back in after our Cali trip, I’m turning my attention to moving out of the house and into the condo – a process that we’ve been talking about for months.  That means go through ever nook and cranny of our house, donating or selling what no longer serves us and packing what we want to take with us or store for later.  One thing is for sure, downsizing from a 4 bedroom house to 900 square feet is not an easy task!  We’re going to have to get really creative on storage and ruthless about only keeping things that we really love and have a use for.

I can’t remember if I mentioned this in an earlier post, but we decided to build in a desk area in the den as well as a little nook that we have in the kitchen.  Since we both work from home now, we realized that we needed a space where we could work {so long “theater room”} and store things like computers, papers etc and in the kitchen we put in a pull out trash bin and a ton of shelving for wine storage.

Outside of house stuff, I’m eager to get back to my weekly trips to the PSU Farmer’s Market and stock up on fresh summer produce – it’s quite possibly my favorite time of year for produce.  Don’t even get me started on Oregon melons…they are magical.

I’m also determined to pick back up my French lessons.  I have always wanted two learn French so last year I bought myself a Babbel subscription and dove in.  If you’re looking for a way to learn a language I highly recommend Babbel.  There’s multiple ways to learn {listening, speaking, typing} and the pronunciation is much better than some of the other free apps that I’ve tried.   I was on a roll, but fell off the band wagon when life got a little crazy.  I’m determined to make 15 minutes of French a daily habit!

Eating

Just made the most delicious Strawberry Rhubarb Crisp using this recipe and can’t recommend it enough!

I’m still very much still not in the mood to spend hours cooking every night so we’ve been mixing in takeout and eating out, which honestly feels like such a luxury now!  Tusk {probably one of my favorite restaurants in Portland} not only re-opened, but also opened outdoor seating.  I can’t wait to get back in for dinner!

Listening To

Also picking back up on my Lacy Philips workshops.  When I commit to it, it’s been immensely helpful in working through conditioning, subconscious beliefs and low self worth.  Right now I’m making my way through Unblocked Inner Child before moving on to Unblocked Shadow.

On My List

I say this every year, but this year I am determined to revamp my swimsuits.  Part of the problem is that I’ve always struggled finding cute {emphasis on cute} styles that fit women that have a large cup size and small band size.  It’s been such a pain point for me so I think I’m going to try a few styles and do a blog post on it.  In the meantime, I’ve got my eye Monday Swimwear and Cuup’s new swim line.

I’ve seen Living Libations every where, but always in a low key way, like in a random boutique in Portland or, most recently, in a raw food cafe in Santa Barbara.  Then I went down a rabbit hole on NOY Skincare’s instagram and decided that I needed to try their Sea Buckthorn Best Skin Ever Face Oil.  Will report back!
