As many of you know I love a good knit. Whether it’s pairing a sophisticated crewneck with a pair of slouchy jeans and sandals or draping one over my shoulders instead of a scarf, knitwear is hands down one of the hardest working categories in my closet come Fall/Winter. There’s nothing quite like snuggling up in a good cozy sweater on a chilly morning and with fall right around the corner I am limbering up for the marathon that is “sweatah-weathah”.
For years Jenni Kayne has been a go-to of mine for cashmere and, more recently, cotton knits. Quintessentially Californian, their styles encapsulate both the rural nature of Ynez Valley and the chic sophistication of California’s beach towns that I think many other brands try to emulate. Below are a few of my favorite knits that I either currently own or have been thinking of adding to my collection. While pricey, I’ve learned that if you take care of them, then they will stand the test of time.
Note: they are doing 20% off Labor Day weekend! I’ve only ever seen them go up to 25% (typically in November/December) so this is definitely a great time to get a deal.
Cashmere Cocoon (also cotton cocoon) – my very first JK purchase and one of my most reached for sweaters between the months of October and May. I will wear it on its own, paired with denim, or a skirt, over a slip dress – the options are endless. It’s definitely an investment, but one that will pay off for years to come. I also have the cotton version which is perfect for summer.
Fisherman Sweater – another classic JK style. I bought the white one after struggling to find a white fishermen sweater that I liked. Unfortunately I accidentally shrunk it (and really should have dry cleaned it in the first place) so I’m back in the market for it. They have this in both cotton and cashmere, as well as an oversized version, so you can tailor it to your climate and fit preference.
Oversized Crewneck – this knit is perfect for going into fall. It has a slightly thicker collar that’s giving me Khaite vibes. I also love that it’s a cotton/cashmere blend making it both cozy and lightweight.
Cruise Cotton Boyfriend – I love this knit for a summer. It’s a cotton/linen blend with a more oversized fit. I’ve been debating between adding this one or the oversized cotton fisherman to my very small cotton knit collection.
Mercer Crewneck – another favorite of mine. This is 100% merino wool but extremely light weight. So much so that I packed it for 2 months in Europe this past summer. My favorite way to wear it is with denim or tailored shorts, or draped over my shoulders with a tank.
Chloe Crewneck – I have been stalking this sweater for months. Tried it in an xs but sadly I’d prefer the small which is sold out. It’s so soft, perfectly oversized and the perfect companion to a pair of oversized denim with a glass of rose by a fire.
