Top Of Mind: January ’20

January mood board vintners daughter dr. Sturm Tahiti, kinn studio, marble trey

I don’t know about you, but during the holidays, my ability to tackle my to-do list kind of goes to shit. Now that we are well into the New Year, it’s time to get after it. This is what’s top of mind for me as I start planning the rest of the year.

1.

Last we we saw a screaming deal on direct flights to Tahiti in May 2020 {thanks to Scott’s Cheap Flights} and impulsively bought it. We are notorious for putting off booking hotels and transfers until a month before we leave so I’m doing everything I can to reserve everything now!

2.

A few years ago we bought a condo in downtown Portland and have yet to really make it home. This year is the year! I’ve been gathering tons of inspiration on Pinterest and Instagram for neutral, very Scandinavian inspired decor. I’ve been seeing these chairs everywhere and and absolutely loving them.

3.

I despise shopping for bras. They’re expensive, we’re supposed to wash them every 3 wears, and they stretch out – WTF?! {I feel like I could write a whole blog post on this topic…}. It’s not that I don’t like bras, I actually really like them when I find stylish ones that fit. I have a very difficult size to shop for – 30F – and have had the hardest time finding bras that fit, aren’t matronly, and aren’t twice as expensive simply because the size is outside of the “normal” size range. In the past, I’ve invested in Simone Perel and Chantel at +$80 a pop, but I’m going to give CUUP a try. Their bras are super minimal {I don’t need 2″ of padding…} and chic, under $70 and cover a huge size range {no pun intended}.

4.

We made this recipe over Christmas and it was absolutely delicious. If you’re getting tired of soups, stews, and root vegetable heavy dishes, then give this Cauliflower Pomegranate Pistachio Salad a try. I promise it won’t disappoint.

5.

I’ve been on a tray and trinket kick lately. In my mind, they add the perfect pick me up to an otherwise boring nightstand or credenza. Funny thing is, is that I’ve overlooked them until now! I’ve been eyeing this marble trey from Crate and Barrel for our bathroom or my nightstand.

6.

Now that I’m older all I want to wear is simple gold jewelry that doesn’t cost a ton and isn’t going to tarnish or fade. I’m honestly shocked at how expensive some pieces can be when they are 18K gold-plated {meaning that the core material is brass and it’s just a gold coating}. I don’t mind buying vermeil, but it should be priced accordingly. I’ve typically stuck to Vrai Oro and AU Rate, but I recently discovered Kinn Jewelry and love their story and designs. Jennie Yoon, the founder, created Kind to replace the antique jewelry that was stollen when her parents house was robbed. Everything is handcrafted from solid gold that’s regulated and certified by the Responsible Jewelry Council (RJC), and sourced from responsible, traceable, mining organizations. I might just have to treat myself to this for my birthday…

7.

I’ll be honest. When I first saw DR. STURM’s hyaluronic serum I nearly had a heart attack at the price. It’s literally the cost of a pair of shoes, maybe even two depending on your brand of choice. But the more I’ve read about the brand and the the science behind it, I’m intrigued. I’m not ready to commit {after all, we only just met} to the serum, but I am in need of a good morning and evening moisturizer. After going down a rabbit hole of interviews and videos trying to figure out if the products are really worth it I found out that if there’s one product you’re going to try from the line, it’s this one. I’m still not 100% convinced, but it’s on my mind.

8.

Another cult favorite that I’ve had my eye on for at least a year now. I have literally not heard one negative review of Vintner’s Daughter Botanical Serum. N-o-t-h-i-n-g. I’m almost out of the my Aurelia night time serum, which I love, but I’m trying to pair down the number of products that are just for night time or day time. I think I’m going to give the serum a try because I can use it during the day and at night. Will report back!

Happy Friday!
